Tribeca World Premiere: THE TRAVEL COMPANION, NYC Comedy on Filmmaking (Photos)

Simon (Tristan Turner), a struggling documentarian in his early 30s living in New York City, relies on his best friend Bruce (Anthony Oberbeck), who works for an airline, to secure free standby flights. As Bruce’s dedicated “travel companion,” Simon enjoys the luxury of flying at no cost—an invaluable resource for his ambitious yet unfinished documentary about humanity.

After a disappointing film screening, Simon’s life takes a new direction when he befriends Beatrice (Naomi Asa), another filmmaker. The two bond over drinks, and soon, Simon wakes to find Beatrice in his kitchen. As Bruce and Beatrice’s relationship grows more serious, Simon becomes increasingly afraid of losing his travel benefits.

With just two months left before Bruce can transfer his flight privileges to someone else, Simon begins to sabotage his friendship with Bruce in a desperate attempt to hold on to his free flights. Simultaneously, Simon’s jealousy over Beatrice’s success in filmmaking intensifies, distracting him from his own project as his obsession deepens.

Can Simon salvage his friendship with Bruce while keeping his travel perks intact?
