2x GRAMMY-nominated, Top Dawg Entertainment artist and creative SiR returns to the ether with Heavy Deluxe: THE LIGHT out now – LISTEN HERE.
Revealing his own experiences of addiction, recovery, love, loss and isolation, the original release of HEAVY offered some of the most vulnerable and introspective self-expression we’ve seen from SiR to date. A transformative moment formed to tell an intimate story of hope and humility – the importance of physical and spiritual growth – the album also featured some of the most culturally resonant artists including Anderson .Paak, Isaiah Rashad, Scribz Riley, Ty Dolla $ign and fellow TDE affiliate Ab-Soul.
Earning over 110M+ streams on Spotify alone, a worldwide tour and support slot with SZA alongside critical acclaim from ROLLING STONE, HYPEBEAST, CLASH, WONDERLAND and more, SiR’s frank, conscious lyricism blended with melodic prowess marks him as one of the most impactful artists flourishing on both sides of the Atlantic.
Speaking on the release, SiR mentions: “I’m happy to be staring at the end of an era. The Light Deluxe completes a chapter in my life I’ve been growing away from. These new songs served as therapy during a time of growth. I’m excited to see how they connect with my fans.”
Delivering six new tracks that showcase his evolution as a vulnerable young man, and father, the deluxe opens up with with the blossoming, sun-kissed track “THE LIGHT” – capturing SiR’s confession for change and the endless search for real connection. On “BACK” – a vibrant cut balancing the weight of stardom and the external pressures that follow suit, SiR decides to look inward and asks the question: “Or is it me? Me and my addictive personality.”
Next up, “NO GOOD” sees the Inglewood star reconcile with his own desires that take control, before “LOSE IT ALL” drives his ethereal affirmations towards a special place in the pursuit of true love and enlightenment.
Rugged, tender and self-assured, high-calibre R&B and soul continue to dominate the album’s arc across “OUT OF MY HANDS” ft. Maeta. The two surface in superior form, trading succulent, glossy vocals to depict the fluctuations of a complex relationship – the push and pull of temptation and seduction that blur lines only the heart can perceive.
Maneuvering through hazy sessions on “SIN AGAIN”, the deluxe draws to a close. SiR solidifies these experiences of angst and hope to inspire those who seek the same solace, building something truly meaningful for both his community and the next generation to come.
Since crashing on the scene in 2014 with his incendiary SoundCloud debut mixtape Long Live Dilla, SiR has become a true alchemist of the creative arts. Striking a deal with TDE in 2017 alongside Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q and many more, SiR quickly earned stripes with a plethora of highly acclaimed releases including his stunning project November and breakthrough track “Hair Down” featuring Kendrick Lamar, amassing over 160M streams on Spotify and 45M views across the official video.
Alongside a standout performance of “John Redcorn” across COLORSXSTUDIOS, the California native delivered his debut album Chasing Summer, elevating to new heights with features from international superstars like Lil Wayne, Smino and Jill Scott. With further co-signs and collaborative credits from Stevie Wonder to Ginuwine, SiR’s unapologetic and technical approach marks him as one of the genre’s standout talents.
With his highly anticipated ‘Step Into The Light’ tour starting in May, SiR is proving to be one of North America’s hottest and most substantial musical exports right now. He shows no sign of slowing down.
