Incident Overview

At approximately 8:19 p.m. on May 19, an officer-involved shooting occurred at the intersection of South Edgewood Terrace and Burton Avenue in Fort Worth. This incident stemmed from an investigation into an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that occurred the day before, involving the same suspect, identified as Dโ€™oria Thompson, a 33-year-old black male.

Previous Dayโ€™s Assault

On May 18, around 6:00 p.m., Mr. Thompson was observed on video pulling up to a business located in the 4800 block of Miller Avenue. He exited his vehicle, approached an alleyway, and after a brief interaction, shot a victim in the shoulder. The victim was treated at a local hospital. Officers gathered information that identified Mr. Thompson and the suspect vehicle, which was entered into the police system.

Pursuit and Shootout

On May 19, patrol units were alerted to the location of the suspect vehicle. An officer located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, Mr. Thompson fired at officers, hitting one vehicle and causing damage that ended the officerโ€™s pursuit. The wounded officer, who suffered injuries from broken glass, was transported to a local hospital and treated.
