NEON International announced today that it will kick off foreign sales on The Housewife, from first-time feature filmmaker Ben Shirinian, at the European Film Market in Berlin this month. The film, which will star Academy Award®-nominee Naomi Watts (Mulholland Drive,The Impossible), Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One, X-Men series), Emmy Award®-winner Michael Imperioli (“The Sopranos,” “The White Lotus”), and Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead” franchise) is currently in pre-production, with principal photography set to begin in June 2024. Robbie Brenner (Academy Award® Nominated Barbie, Dallas Buyers Club), Kevin McKeon (Call Jane), and Lee Broda (May December) are producing alongside Executive Producer Alyssa Hill who also penned the script. CAA Media Finance is representing the domestic sales rights on the title.
Based on a true story from 1964, The Housewife follows a determined young New York Times journalist (Sheridan) as he tracks down a potential Nazi officer living secretly in Queens. But when he befriends the suspect’s elegant and charming wife (Watts), the implications of his investigation become much more unsettling.
Watts recently wrapped production on Audrey Diwan’s Emmanuelle, and is currently starring as ‘Babe Paley’ in Ryan Murphy’s “Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.” Film credits include Penguin Bloom, Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), St. Vincent, among many others and on television,
Imperioli is best known for his renowned role as Christopher Moltisanti in “The Sopranos” and has since gone on to amass an impressive slate of credits including most recently, HBO’s hit series “The White Lotus,” Hulu’s “This Fool” and Paul Schrader’s latest film “Oh, Canada”. Reedus is best known for his role as Daryl Dixon on the AMC television series “The Walking Dead.” His film credits include John Hillcoat’s Triple 9, Robert Redford’s The Conspirator, and recently wrapped production on Len Wiseman’s Ballerina starring Keanu Reeves and Ana De Armas.
The Housewife marks Shirinian’s feature directorial debut. Previous short film work includes Lost in Motion & Lost in Motion 2 and Josef et Aimée.

NEON recently garnered seven Academy Award®-nominations, five for Anatomy of a Fall from Justine Triet; Wim Wenders’ Perfect Days, the Japanese selection for ‘Best International Film’; and Best Animated Feature, Robot Dreams from Pablo Berger. NEON launched its international sales outfit ahead of the Venice Film Festival in 2023, led by seasoned film executive Kristen Figeroid. Its slate currently includes Steven Soderbergh‘s Presence which made its world premiere in Sundance where NEON picked up the worldwide rights; They Follow, the long awaited sequel to the modern horror classic It Follows from visionary writer/director David Robert Mitchell and starring Maika Monroe; and Ava DuVernay’s Origin. Berlin will also mark the world premiere of Cuckoo from writer/director Tilman Singer and starring Hunter Schafer in the Berlinale Special section.
