Jose Cedeño has been appointed the new Executive Vice President and General Manager of Interscope Capitol Miami, a division that has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2019. Cedeño, who will continue collaborating closely with Nir Seroussi, Head of Interscope Capitol Miami, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the label. Under his leadership, the Miami division has become a major player in Latin music, enjoying tremendous success in a short period.

Interscope Capitol Miami made waves as the first major Latin music division within a global label. With standout signings such as Ivan Cornejo, Bad Gyal, and Xavi, as well as partnerships with renowned artists like KAROL G and J Balvin, the division has thrived. It has also seen great success with homegrown talent, including Capitol’s Kali Uchis and Interscope’s Selena Gomez. This rapid ascent earned Interscope Capitol Miami the prestigious title of Hot Latin Songs Label of the Year in 2024, awarded by Billboard magazine.
Cedeño expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, highlighting the remarkable journey he’s had since helping build the division from the ground up. “It’s been an amazing experience building this division from scratch, working alongside Nir to execute his and John Janick’s vision,” he remarked. “The artists recognized the power of this idea from the very start, and the teams at the larger Interscope and Capitol labels have been supportive the entire way. I’m looking forward to continuing to give Latin talent access to the model that has fueled the careers of so many iconic artists.”
Cedeño’s career spans over two decades, during which he led transformation initiatives in the music industry, with a particular focus on Latin and global markets. Before joining Interscope Capitol Miami, he served as Senior Vice President at Sony Music Latin, where he played a pivotal role in the careers of major Latin music stars like Nicky Jam, Ozuna, Enrique Iglesias, Maluma, and Shakira, among others. His expertise also extends to consulting and consumer products, where he led operational transformations for global organizations. Cedeño holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Dayton.
In addition to the recent accolade of Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Label of the Year, Interscope Records was also recognized as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2022, largely due to its success with the Miami division. Cedeño will remain based in Miami, continuing to drive the label’s growth and impact in the Latin music world.
