A gripping new podcast series, Crying Wolf, dives deep into the tragic and eye-opening story of Lee Harris, a man who was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to 90 years in prison based on a coerced confession. The 10-part series, launching on October 22, 2025, reveals the harrowing journey of Harris’ fight for justice, the corruption he uncovered, and the unexpected death that followed his release.

Hosted by journalist and author Dax-Devlon Ross, Crying Wolf exposes the chilling corruption within Chicago’s justice system, particularly the infamous Detective Richard Zuley, a disgraced investigator known for extracting false confessions.
Harris’s case, which involved corrupt detectives, unreliable informants, and systemic abuse, ultimately saw a turning point when Robert, an unlikely ally and fellow inmate, vowed to prove his innocence. For over two decades, Robert fought relentlessly to uncover the truth and expose the corruption behind Harris’s wrongful conviction.
With the help of a determined pro bono attorney, Robert succeeded in 2023, securing Lee’s release from prison. However, the story took a tragic turn when Lee unexpectedly passed away months later, leaving Robert to carry on their shared fight for justice.
The series, co-produced by iHeartPodcasts and Clockwork Films, delves into not only Lee’s personal case but also the broader issues of wrongful convictions and police misconduct. It also revisits the brutal unsolved murder of Dana Feitler, which was heavily impacted by the corruption that derailed the investigation.
Will Pearson, President of iHeartPodcasts, calls Crying Wolf “a powerful example of investigative audio storytelling,” with an eye-opening narrative that highlights not just the failures within the justice system, but the extraordinary friendship that changed Lee’s life.
Naomi Harvey, Executive Producer for Clockwork Films, explained that the journey of uncovering the truth was not an easy one. Despite the uncertainty, she emphasized that Crying Wolf is a testament to “formidable friendship” and “relentless determination,” as Robert’s unwavering loyalty to Lee became a central theme of the story.
Dax-Devlon Ross, the host of the podcast, said what captivated him was not just the wrongful conviction and police corruption, but Robert’s dedication to fighting for his friend’s freedom. He explained that despite the many obstacles, Robert never gave up on Lee. Ross hopes the story will inspire listeners to embrace kindness and loyalty, values that feel rare in today’s world.
“Crying Wolf” will be available on the iHeartRadio app and wherever podcasts are found. The series will feature two bonus episodes discussing the Anthony Garrett case.
